Bee Feed: What is Invertbee Syrup?
As you’d expect from being the main UK-based Bee Feed distributors, we get asked about our products a lot.
So we’ve put together a little blog post to help you understand Invertbee Syrup!
Invertbee syrup is a ready mixed syrup based on sugar from beet and a fructose.
Invertbee syrup is explicitly produced for honey bee‘s and is ready to go at any time of the year. It won't granulate in the comb easily like other sugar syrup may do; this can prevent any potential starvation over the Winter months.
Based mainly on sugarbeet sugar which has been inverted by using a protein enzyme, this raises the monosaccharide's (simple sugars used for energy storage) to almost 50% of the product.
This enables the bees to digest the syrup much more readily than simply feeding ordinary sugar solution.
Invertbee is a thick syrup and SHOULD NOT be diluted with water as this would substantially reduce its keeping quality.
It is guaranteed to stay stable in its original form for 12 months, and does not necessarily need to be 'capped off' in the hives; it can therefore be fed much later into the autumn.
We hope that this has helped to answer some of the questions pertaining to Bee Feed.
